2016 Reunion Getttysburg

I thought I would give a recap on the 2016 Gettysburg reunion. This year’s event was a great success! We enjoyed three days of comradery at one of America most hallowed sites.

The weekend began on Thursday the 22nd with the opening of the hospitality room and many guests just arriving and getting acclimated.  The room was well stocked with snacks and refreshments all weekend due to the generosity of the attendees! The real events began on Friday morning with the bus tour to the Eisenhower Farm. A busload of people toured the former Supreme Commander’s house, followed by a lunch at the Dobbin house, the oldest structure in Gettysburg! After lunch we toured the Heritage museum, a great battle inspired museum. The Friday evening highlight was a pizza party and lecture by David Booz, a professor at Gettysburg College and a battle historian, quite the orator!

Saturday was a very successful guided bus tour of the battlefield; this was a four hour trip with a licensed guide, very knowledgeable and exuberant! Quite the afternoon! After the tour we had free time and a late afternoon general membership meeting, where fundraising, silent auction, donations, and the 50/50 raffle were discussed as to maintain our sustainability and scholarship fund.

The evening brought our banquet next door to the Wyndham hotel ballroom; we had a fantastic WWll living history display set-up complete with weapons and reenactors in uniform and period dress!

We also had a guest speaker: Colonel Ken Adgie, the Deputy Commandant from the U.S. Army War College in nearby Carlisle, PA. The Colonel utilized his vast resources to deliver an exceptional speech about the 69th Infantry. The evening wound down with much socializing, picture taking, and remembrance of why we gather yearly: to remember our fathers and grandfather that answered the call!

Thank you to all that attended for your interest in the legacy of the “Fighting 69th

Next year we will gather in Virginia Beach, VA September 21st-24th 2017, save the date!

Transfer of Responsibility

The 69th Infantry Division Association held its 66th annual reunion on Saturday October 19, 2013 in Nashville TN. At the board meeting, the board of directors voted unanimously to dissolve the association, this motion was also passed at the general membership meeting.

Therefore, all activities, meetings, reunions, and correspondence now are the responsibility of the 69th Infantry Next Generation Group!

The Next Generation group’s goal is to promote and preserve the legacy of the 69th Infantry Division. We will use the website (, Facebook (69th Infantry Next Generation Group) and our constant contact e-mail account to keep our member’s informed.

A smooth transition can be expected, we will continue to have a yearly reunion along with regular correspondence and updates!
